Square Peg Pizzeria is hiring a Server — and yeah, we know that's a job title on a hundred other posts today. Here's what makes ours different: we're not really in the pizza business. We're in the business of making people feel like they belong here, so they come back. Every table you touch is a chance to turn a stranger into a regular. That's the job. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO - Greet every guest within 30 seconds — eye contact, a real smile, your name, water on the table - Learn names, notice birthdays and celebrations, remember the regulars - Ask if it's their first time — first-timers get flagged and get the extra-warm treatment - Ask every table if they're a rewards member; sign up the ones who aren't, check points for the ones who are - Know the menu cold — ingredients, allergens, today's specials — and describe any dish in one confident sentence, no notes, no fumbling - Make one specific recommendation every course ("the fried spaghetti with our cacio pepe — people order it as an appetizer just to fight over it") - Fire drinks in 2-3 minutes, stage the pizza stand and cheese and pepper before the pie hits the table, check back within 2 minutes of food landing - Read the table — business lunch, first date, family with kids, a group that might be celebrating — and adjust - Clear as you go, keep the check ready, drop it before they have to ask - If something goes wrong: listen, own it, fix it, thank them for telling you. No excuses, no hunting down a manager for permission - Thank every guest by name on the way out, invite them back with something specific, and ask the happy ones for a review THE KIND OF PERSON WHO THRIVES HERE You don't need five years of serving experience — you need to actually care whether the table next to you is having a good night. We're looking for people who: - Sell with confidence — you recommend the mushroom pie because you actually think it's great, not because you were told to upsell - Own the room — you notice the empty water glass, the guest checking the time, the kid who dropped a fork, before anyone waves you down - Stay composed when a table's unhappy — you don't get defensive or blame the guest, you fix it and move on - Treat this place like it's yours — because on your shift, it kind of is.
