Now Hiring: Host — Square Peg Pizzeria We're not really in the pizza business. We're in the business of making people feel like they matter the second they walk through our door. At Square Peg, the Host is the first handshake and the last goodbye — you set the tone for every single visit, and you're the reason a first-timer decides to become a regular. If that sounds like a big deal, that's because it is. WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO - Greet every guest within 10 seconds — smile, eye contact, drop what's in your hands - Open the door when you can, and acknowledge people even when you're slammed - Ask every table: "Is this your first time with us?" — and flag first-timers to the manager on the spot - Know your regulars — use their name, mention their last visit - Read the table: booster for the kiddo, a quieter spot for the couple, easy access up front for guests with a walker or wheelchair, room to breathe for the big group - Walk them to the table, introduce their server by name ("Joey B.'s got you tonight") - Mention the Fried Spaghetti while they settle in — you'll get why once you taste it - Ask dine-in and to-go guests if they're a rewards member, every time - Run the waitlist and floor plan like you own it — know the real wait time before anyone asks, and balance seating so no server gets buried - Answer the phone in 2 rings, full greeting, every time - Keep the host stand and entryway sharp — this is the first thing guests see - If someone's upset, empathize first, apologize, get a manager fast — never argue, never disappear - Send them off right: thank them by name, hold the door, give them a reason to come back WHO THRIVES HERE You don't rattle easily. When the waitlist is 45 minutes deep and three servers are asking for tables at once, you don't get flustered or start pointing fingers — you stay steady, communicate, and figure it out. You naturally think in systems: you're already picturing which server has room, which table needs a wipe-down, who's been waiting longest. You genuinely like people — strangers, regulars, cranky guests, all of it — and you treat this place like it's yours, because for the four hours you're on that door, it is. Restaurant experience helps, but we'll take someone with zero experience and the right instincts over a jaded veteran any day. DETAILS Part-time and full-time shifts available. Nights, weekends, and a genuine appetite for hospitality required. If this sounds like you, apply now — tell us about a time you kept your cool when everything got busy at once. We read every application, and we're hiring soon.
