Now Hiring: Server at Lantern & Vine (Riverside) We're not just slinging plates over here. Every table that sits down is a chance to make someone's night — and that's on you as much as it's on us. If you believe a remembered name or a well-timed recommendation can turn a first-timer into a regular, we want to meet you. What you'll actually do: - Greet, seat-check, and warm up every table like they're a friend who just walked in - Learn every dish cold — key ingredients, prep style, allergens — so you can describe any plate in one confident sentence, no notes - Know the specials before the first guest sits down, every shift - Make one specific recommendation per course — a wine, a side, a sauce, something real, not "everything's good here" - Ask new faces "is this your first time dining with us?" — and treat regulars like regulars - Mention our loyalty program early — name, points, offers — and actually use it, not just mention it once and forget - Get first drinks out fast, keep your eyes on your tables even when you're not at them - Enter modifiers and allergies correctly in the POS, every time, no exceptions - Send them off with a thank-you by name and a real reason to come back next week Who thrives here: - You're confident selling — you'll suggest the wine pairing, the side, the upsell, without sounding like a script or backing off the second someone hesitates - You keep your cool when a table's unhappy — you own it, fix it, and don't make it the guest's fault - You genuinely like people — regulars, first-timers, big groups, solo diners at the bar — and it shows without trying - You take pride in getting the small stuff right: the pour, the pairing, the plate description you didn't have to look up - You're coachable — we're always sharpening the standard here, and you're into that, not annoyed by it Must-haves: - Comfortable talking wine — pairing a glass with an entrée should feel natural, not memorized - Available weekends (this is when Lantern & Vine comes alive) - Genuinely great with people — this is the job, not a bonus skill Pay: $18–$20/hr.
